2 Amazon reviews of Glitchasemics by Marco Giovenale

As soon as I opened Glitchasemics I knew I was in new
territory. The pages are alive with broad bands and striations of
forceful, synthetic color, mitigated by grays and off whites. This isn’t
decorative color, it doesn’t reference nature or express emotion, it
acts as language and has language – asemic writing - embedded in it.
Conversations occur between and among the pages. Relationships form by
way of echoes and repetitions. These set up a rhythm that functions the
way narrative does: it makes you turn the page to see the next
development. The experience of Glitchasemics is intoxicating and sets a
new standard for visual reading.

It is a treat for me whenever I discover something new by
Marco Geovenale, and his recent book, Glitchasemics (Post-Asemic Press)
does not disappoint. MG’s creativity bursts from each page.
Indecipherable markings and color in the mixture. Repetition and
rearrangement of form and pattern. If you expect the unexpected when
reading an asemic piece, this is the book for you. I recommend that you
buy it.

GLITCHASEMICS by Marco Giovenale is available now at Amazon! It includes an indepth introduction by Michael Betancourt.
"Asemic writing is a type of disturbed writing / écriture that cannot be read since it belongs to a completely unknown language, or a language that one is not capable of deciphering, like a set of glyphs or letters coming out of a long lost enigmatic script which resist any attempt at translation. If you disturb waves of asemic writing, it resembles a loud interrupting noise hitting a regular radio frequency signal, you get a double-coded text—or image text(ure)s, which double as chaotic graphic micro-events. In this realm is where the "Glitchasemics” dwell, with their shining overexposure to colors and extreme illuminated distortions, which also lead to bits of altered perceptions and flashes of already tangled alphabets. In this book there is no return to previously known languages, codes, or habits (even if they are experimental ones). From this point forward, the reader is left in this crossroad area of art and verbo-visual writing, and will encounter a post-literate path without explanation and/or translation, with its very identity asserting itself into the concept of translation, but remaining as an impossible task applied to impossible objects." —Marco Giovenale

"Marco Giovenale pens poems that are
truly intersectional, flickering on the nexus of several technologies including
the hand, the computer, the camera, the book, and the xerox machine. Riddled
with exacting error, they straddle the visual and the literary, the result of which
is an extraordinary series of poems that are at once readable and lookable,
both rigorous and serendipitous. Finalmente, parole in libertà!”
— Kenneth
Goldsmith, founder of
UbuWeb
“Imagetext, glitchasemics,
New Aesthetic, dirty media — call it what you will. This isn’t so much a book
as it is a pop-up exhibition of literary malware that just may corrupt you too
and you may not even know it.”
— Mark Amerika, author of remixthebook
“Monet said "To see, we must forget the name of the
thing we are looking at." I say some of my favorite poets are writing what
generally isn't recognized as even being poetry. Or even writing, in some
cases. We're getting there.”

poet at Vispo.com
